BURRDA SPORT was named as one of the leading partners for The Cape Flats Football Academy on its recent visit to Doha, with the brand supplying kits to the Academy’s youngsters.
The Cape Flats Academy has a passion for community building, spirit of entrepreneurship and love for football which inspired the Academy to travel 7,400 km to showcase skills in Qatar – hosts of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Comprising seven under-19 and four under-25 players from various clubs in Cape Town, the youngsters wowed local and expat fans with both their talent and sportsmanship, whilst enjoying an amazing overseas experience.
South Africa’s Ambassador to Qatar, Professor Shirish Soni said he was proud to welcome the Academy to Doha, saying that there were many opportunities for partnerships and initiatives between South Africa and Qatar, as highlighted during the recent official visit to Pretoria by the Gulf state. He said that bilateral relations between Qatar and South Africa had three focus areas – the building of political relations; economic relations; and strengthening partnerships in culture, sports and education.
